“I was blown away...the words that came to mind were liquid gold. A fluid and expressive voice.”
—Peter Gabriel on Youssou N'Dour
The legendary Senegalese singer, actor, and political activist makes his Bing Concert Hall debut in what's sure to be the blowout African music event of the summer. Throughout a 30-year recording career, the global superstar has managed to fashion a sound which is both characteristically Senegalese and outward-looking, blending Cuban rumba, calypso, and funk.
His widespread fame resulted from numerous collaborations with Western pop stars, including singer Neneh Cherry and his special guest appearances on albums by Paul Simon (Graceland) and Peter Gabriel (So). Joining N'Dour for an afterparty in the Bing Concert Hall Gunn Atrium will be the up-and-coming Zimbabwean band Mokoomba!
