The evening includes performances of new Kronos-commissioned works by two illustrious composers: Philip Glass, a towering figure in American music and a longtime Kronos collaborator; and, in the Bay Area premiere of his third string quartet, the Ukraine’s Valentin Silvestrov, who unites “an array of influences into a graceful, communicative style of his own.” (New York Times).
