“A wildly groovy style of music." —Entertainment Weekly
Last seen at Bing with the Nile Project in 2015, the Bay Area-based Meklit brings a unique sound that blends jazz, Ethiopia, the San Francisco art scene, and visceral poetry. Drawing from her African heritage, to folk songs, hip-hop, and rock, Meklit aptly describes her music as emanating from “in-between-spaces.” Her songs shine with pentatonic melodies, Ethio groove, and a singer-songwriter's poetic core. This is immigrant music and American music all at the same time.
Join us for an evening with Meklit in our newly-revamped cabaret space in the Bing Concert Hall Studio.
