Stanford Live welcomes its 2012–13 Opening Acts student curators. Check back in the fall quarter for more information about what Nick, Kasie and Alicia are planning.
Nicholas Moreno is a second year law student from Los Angeles, California. He earned a BA and MA in Music Science and Technology from Stanford. As a music student he composed and recorded music for documentary films, designed sound for plays, and was a member of the Stanford Improvisation Collective [sic]. After graduation, he designed algorithms for sound artists, played in a West African drumming group, interned at Lines Ballet, and volunteered at Neighborhood Legal Services. Last year, he shifted his focus to the law and is currently interested in the intersection between law and art. He wants to help artists protect their creations, secure forums and funding for future works, and help push the boundaries of expression in our society.
Kasiemobi Udo-okoye, class of 2015, is an avid artist and arts fan who is excited by everything from rap to opera to photography and everything in between. She is a visual artist, singer, and actress, and has performed in several plays and concerts in high school and at Stanford, including "A Midsummer Night’s Dream," "Ms. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge," "the Vagina Monologues" and "Zoot Suit." She is a Human Biology and Public Policy double major.
Alicia Anderson began competitive Irish dancing with the Clarkson School of Irish Dance at the age of seven, and since then has competed at the Regional, National, All-Ireland, Great Britain and World Championships several times during career. She is a three-time World Medalist, and achieved her highest placement of seventh in the world in 2009 during her freshman year at Stanford. She has also performed with the Chieftains and Cherish the Ladies in her home state of Missouri, and in 2010 she joined Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance for the show’s fall tour of Europe. Her interests include musical theater and classical music. She is a senior in Human Biology.
