FAQ: Subscription presale on May 20
Here's what you can expect at our May 20 in-person subscription presale event for 2016-17 subscribers and/or 2017-18 members of $150 and above. The in-person presale event takes place from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM at Bing Concert Hall. Online sales begin at 2:00 PM.
What does a timeslot get me?
It’s a reserved appointment for your convenience. You’ll be able to place your order during your reserved time window at the box office and eliminate the need for waiting in a long line. If you don't have an assigned appointment, you may still be able to purchase your subscription as a walk-up order on Saturday, May 20 between 9:00 AM-2:00 PM or online starting at 2:00 PM. Phone sales begin on Tuesday, May 23 at 12:00 noon.
How do I sign up for a timeslot?
Timeslot signups are available online only starting on Wednesday, May 10 at 12:00 PM. Click here to register. They're expected to go quick! If you don't receive a timeslot, you can add yourself to the waitlist. Timeslot registrations are not required for online orders.
Who is eligible to order on May 20?
2016-17 subscribers and/or 2017-18 Stanford Live members of $150 and above are eligible. If you have yet to donate towards the 2017-18 season, click here to give now or make your gift at the time of your subscription order.
When do online and phone sales begin?
Online presale access for renewing subscribers and/or current members of $150 and above begins at 2:00 PM on May 20. Phone sales begin on Tuesday, May 23 at 12:00 noon. Timeslot registrations are not required for online or phone orders.
What if something comes up and I miss my appointment?
As time permits, we will process walk-up subscription orders throughout the day. We’ll do our best to accommodate you after all the customers within a given timeslot are served, however wait times are not guaranteed. If you cannot make the presale event in person, online presale access begins at 2:00 PM the same day. Phone sales begin on Tuesday, May 23 at 12:00 noon.
Can I send someone in my place?
Yes, but please be sure to have the individual bring any relevant IDs required to qualify for discounts.
Can I show up without an appointment?
Yes, you can still place your in-person order on May 20 as a walk-up subscriber, but your wait time is not guaranteed. If you cannot make the presale event in person, online presale access begins at 2:00 PM the same day. Phone sales begin on Tuesday, May 23 at 12:00 noon.
What time should I arrive for my time slot? Should I come early?
Plan to arrive about 15 minutes prior to your appointment time to check in and prepare the order form that will be provided on site. If you choose to come even earlier, you are welcome to join the walk-up line.
What should I bring on Saturday, May 20?
If you qualify for an employee or student discount, please bring your Stanford ID or courtesy card. The box office accepts cash, checks, and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express) as methods of payment. An order form will be provided to you on site.
What discounts are available?
Special discounts are available for Stanford faculty, staff, students, visiting professors, Stanford Hospital employees, and non-Stanford students. Visit our ticket policies page for more information.
Are there special events not available as part of a subscription package?
Yes. The performance by Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos, and Yo-Yo Ma currently has very limited inventory and can be purchased as an add-on when you purchase your subscription, pending availability. The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra will go on sale to the general public in the winter. There may also be added shows throughout the season, so be sure to sign up for our eNews to get updates sent straight to your inbox!
Is it possible that some performances will have limited inventory?
Some seating sections in our most popular performances may be sold out by May 20. If you are a timeslot holder, we'll send you an updated list of these performances on Friday evening so you're prepared to make your subscription choices at the presale event. We will also have this form available at the event.
How long will I have to wait?
Each timeslot is 30 minutes long. Although each transaction is unique, we don’t anticipate more than a 30-minute wait time for those with appointments.
Will the Café be open that day?
Although we won’t have full café service available, we will be providing complimentary light refreshments. The Cool Café, located at the Cantor Arts Center, is open at 11:00 AM Read more about campus dining.
Where is the best place to park?
Parking for Bing Concert Hall can be found on Lasuen Street and in the Galvez Lot. Visitor parking is FREE on weekends at all times. See our map and directions page.
I’d like to have seats next to an acquaintance. Is that possible?
A maximum of 2 subscription orders can be processed at the same time - please have both households present in order to be seated together.
How are seats assigned?
Seats are assigned on a best-available, first come, first served basis. If you require accessible seating, please inform the ticket office when you place your order.
When will I receive my tickets?
Tickets will be mailed in late June. Stanford student subscription tickets will be available for pick up in September pending verification of student ID.
When do single tickets go on sale?
Single tickets go on sale on Thursday, June 8 at 12:00 noon. Be sure to sign up for our E-news so you receive any season updates.
