“...everything from punk-pop to traditional Ukrainian songs in cool yet beguiling textures..." - National Public Radio.
This hot Ukrainian folk-punk quartet, whose name means “give-take” in old Slavonic, stirs up a mesmerizing sound that melds traditional Ukrainian folk music, African grooves, Eastern colors, and a contemporary sensibility the band calls “ethno-chaos.”
The hit of last year’s globalFEST, the dramatic singers in DakhaBrakha accompany themselves on cello, accordion, percussion, and other instruments.
*Pre-Show Talk*
6:30pm - DakhaBrakha in Context
Gabriella Safran, Professor and Director of Slavic Languages and Literatures, Chair of Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages at Stanford University, discusses how the current state of affairs in Ukraine relate to the music of DakhaBrakha.
