*Pre-show Family Activity | 1:00pm-2:00pm | Doug Goodkin and the Pentatonics*
Families will enjoy this interactive experience with renowned Orff music expert and educator Doug Goodkin. With his band, the Pentatonics, Goodkin will lead participants through group music-making activities using percussion instruments and xylophones in a fun exploration of the blues and other musical forms. Open and accessible to all ages and levels!
This culturally diverse chorus, whose sound the Los Angeles Times called “hauntingly beautiful,” is one of America’s most refined and accomplished children’s groups.
Founded in 1986 and led since 1996 by Artistic Director Anne Tomlinson, the chorus has performed with leading artists like Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Plácido Domingo at the Los Angeles Opera. Shaped by a long-term training program, these young singers have wowed audiences in North and South America, Africa, Europe, and China.
The highlight of their program will be the world premiere of The Plentiful Peach. Adapted from a story by the great Iranian writer Samad Behrangi, The Plentiful Peach is the coming of age story of a peach and the brave children who secretly grow her—against the master’s odds.
