From Out a Darker Sea

Founded in 1999 by four Yale music students, Sō performs with larger groups like the LA Philharmonic, on their own, in site-specific and historically based work, and in educational settings to connect young people with music. From Out a Darker Sea has been performed all over Britain’s former coal-producing regions, often in houses of worship, as a way of exploring the disastrous closing of the mines and the communities’ steps toward recovery.
