“He owns a gorgeous voice, a voice with gold in it. I am not talking about its bankability, but rather its tone…this young Hopkins is one of those golden singers, and he filled the Koch Theater with this gold, this glow.”
—Jay Nordlinger, The New Criterion
Canadian baritone Joshua Hopkins is one of opera’s brightest rising stars, having made his San Francisco Opera debut in the 2018–19 season. In this deeply personal program, he performs a new song cycle composed by Jake Heggie with poetry by Margaret Atwood.
Hopkins’s performance builds a powerful elegy honoring the love and memory of his sister and the countless other victims of domestic violence.
