Everyone’s favorite down-to-earth explainer of all types of music returns to Stanford Live for two performances. In the first part of each performance, Kapilow illustrates key points of the music and its creators. Then, the full piece is performed. To top off the experience, Kapilow and the musicians take part in a lively and in-depth audience Q&A.

In an interview, Debussy said  "In the trees outside of my window I neither see nor hear what you do.  I live in a world of imagination, which is set in motion by something suggested by my intimate surroundings." Debussy was exquisitely sensitive to the natural world and translated it into spellbinding music that re-imagined the possibilities of the piano. In "The Solo Piano Landscapes of Debussy," Kapilow and the brilliant pianist Tony Yun explore the unique world that Debussy saw and heard through four of his extraordinary transformations of both nature and the piano—Footsteps in the SnowThe Snow is DancingThe Hills of Annacapri, and What the West Wind Saw.
