In this pre-show event, faculty from Stanford’s Art and Art History and Theater and Performance Studies departments lead an interdisciplinary discussion of director, choreographer, and visual artist Dimitris Papaioannou’s Transverse Orientation. Through improvisational conversation and reflections on Papaioannou’s latest work, the discussion will provoke further investigation and provide a behind-the-scenes look at how leading scholars and practitioners in the arts approach a new piece.

The panel discussion features Usha Iyer, Assistant Professor of Art and Art History; Branislav Jakovljevic, Professor of Theater and Performance Studies; and Alexander Nemerov, Professor in the Arts and Humanities. The event will be moderated by Christian Gonzalez Ho, architectural designer and doctoral student in the department of Art and Art History.
