Learn the rich artistic traditions of the Māori people of New Zealand, whose cultural DNA connects with Polynesians across dozens of islands and thousands of miles from Tracey Wihongi Panek. Tracey is the founder and director of Māori Mo Ake Tonu (Māori Forever), the Bay Area’s Māori performing arts group. Tracey has taught workshops throughout Northern California and classes through the City of Walnut Creek. Tracey has graded in Level 1 Mau Rakau for Māori weaponry and completed a certificate in Māori Performing Arts from the Manaakitanga Aotearoa Trust. Tracey (Nga Puhi Maori tribe) has performed throughout the Western United States and Hawaii. She teaches skillful poi dances, story-telling action songs, and haka.
