PBO SESSIONS is a guided and deconstructed tour of music, social and political history, and art.
Each 90-minute program includes multimedia, illuminating dialogue from the stage, and incredible orchestral and vocal performances.
'Recital No. 1: MASS' transforms the Catholic Mass into a vessel for holding, comparing, contrasting, and connecting music of faith from the Western European, African American, and 21st Century traditions including the music of J.S. Bach, Margaret Bonds, Moses Hogan, and newly commissioned works from Caroline Shaw, Tyshawn Sorey, and Composer in Residence Tarik O'Regan. The program reveals that diverse cultures and aesthetics share equally deep connections throughout our collective human journey. Creative Partner Davóne Tines will curate and perform selections from this dynamic program, which also "features" the audience as they engage deeply with Davóne in topics ranging from why we go to concerts, why baroque and new music, how together we set the tone for the future of classical music.
