Due to an unforeseen injury, the Telegraph Quartet performance on Sunday, February 26 is canceled. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Described by the San Francisco Chronicle as “...an incredibly valuable addition to the cultural landscape” and “powerfully adept... with a combination of brilliance and subtlety,” the Telegraph Quartet brings a reverence for standard chamber music and contemporary, nonstandard works alike. The program comprising the group’s return visit to the Bing contemplates returning to life after periods of illness or turmoil with Grażyna Bacewicz’s String Quartet No. 4, John Harbison’s String Quartet No. 6, and Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 15 in A minor, Op. 132.

The Telegraph Quartet was named the winner of the St. Lawrence String Quartet’s (SLSQ) 2021 John Lad Prize.  The Lad prize is named after the SLSQ’s dear friend John Lad (Stanford ’74), a violist and ardent chamber music devotee.

Program

  • Grażyna Bacewicz: String Quartet No. 4

  • John Harbison: String Quartet No. 6

  • Beethoven: String Quartet No. 15 in A minor, Op. 132
