Described by the San Francisco Chronicle as “...an incredibly valuable addition to the cultural landscape” and “powerfully adept... with a combination of brilliance and subtlety,” the Telegraph Quartet (Eric Chin and Joseph Maile, violins; Pei-Ling Lin, viola; Jeremiah Shaw, cello) brings a reverence for standard chamber music and contemporary, nonstandard works alike. The Telegraph Quartet was named the winner of the St. Lawrence String’s 2021 John Lad Prize. The Lad prize is named after the St. Lawrence’s dear friend John Lad (Stanford ’74), a violist and ardent chamber music devotee.

The program comprising the group’s return visit to the Bing features Grażyna Bacewicz’s String Quartet No. 4, Alban Berg: Lyric Suite, and Benjamin Britten: String Quartet No. 1 in D Major, Op. 25.
