Multiple Grammy winner and Downbeat magazine Artist of the Year Terri Lyne Carrington has long been one of the leading drummers in jazz, heading her own groups and playing with greats like Herbie Hancock and Esperanza Spalding. Now, as founder of the Berklee College of Music Institute for Jazz and Gender Justice, she has published New Standards, a century’s worth of music by over 100 women jazz composers. We’ll hear selections from this repertoire, revealing a whole new history of jazz played by her virtuoso group.
Connections: Music, Jazz, History, Gender Studies
