Founded in 1994 by local music educator Signe Boyer and guided by the leadership of Artistic Director Elena Sharkova since 2004, Cantabile Youth Singers is an internationally recognized choral program providing world-class music education, vocal training, and performance opportunities to Silicon Valley communities with rehearsal locations in Los Altos, California.
Through participation in weekly rehearsals and vocal master classes, seasonal concerts, recitals, festivals, and international touring, more than 200 singers ages 4 to 18 engage their hearts, minds, and voices in joyful, creative learning that fosters such life skills as community building, arts appreciation and advocacy, pursuit of excellence, self-discipline, leadership, and teamwork. Cantabile’s unique and innovative music curriculum includes mindfulness and yoga, movement, improvisation and a focus on self-realization and compassion, as well as appreciation for the diversity of humankind, cultures, languages, and the arts.
Nationally and internationally recognized for innovative and moving concert programs, Cantabile’s premier choir Vocalise has been chosen to perform at such prestigious professional forums as the XI World Symposium on Choral Music (Barcelona, 2017), American Choral Directors Association National Convention (Kansas City, MO, 2019), Western Division Conference (Los Angeles, 2016) and California State Convention (San Jose, 2018). In summer 2019, Cantabile claimed a top-level Gold Medal at the European Choir Games in Sweden, earning top honors and recognition in a category that featured youth choruses from around the world. In July 2020, Cantabile will have the honor of performing at the XII World Symposium on Choral Music in New Zealand, the world's most prestigious professional forum for choral music.
