Founded in 1979, Tafelmusik, the acclaimed Toronto-based Baroque orchestra and chamber choir, is Canada’s most-toured musical group. In Tales of Two Cities, Tafelmusik takes the audience along on a tour of two coffeehouses in 18th-century Leipzig and Damascus, when both cities were on ancient trading routes. Conceived by Alison Mackay, the tales embrace works by Bach, Telemann, and Handel, as well as classical Arabic music, in a stunning cross-cultural caffeination of music, images, and words. Featuring narrator and actor Alon Nashman and guest artist Trio Arabica.
