"...this unexpected collaboration doesn't miss a trick."
Honored for his contributions to jazz worldwide, including awards from the Monterey Jazz Festival and the National Endowment for the Arts, saxophonist Charles Lloyd brings his 80th birthday celebration to the Bing. Lloyd’s shows, “full of momentum and intuition, perfectly represent that the best jazz needs to be experienced live,” said the New York Times. At the Bing, singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams, whose work embraces folk, country, rock, and blues, joins Lloyd and his group, the Marvels.
Thisi program is generously supported by the Koret Foundation. The Koret Jazz Project is a multiyear initiative to support, expand, and celebrate the role of jazz in the artistic and educational programming of Stanford Live.
The program will feature selections from their new album Vanished Gardens.
