Named for the Greek goddess of hunting, Artemis is an all-women jazz collective. Pianist and composer Renee Rosnes leads this all-star quintet with trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, saxophonist Nicole Glover, bassist Noriko Ueda, and drummer Allison Miller. Signed to Blue Note Records and twice named Group of the Year by the Downbeat Magazine Readers’ Poll, Artemis has been described by NPR as “a killer line-up of players, composers and performers… who converge on an extremely cosmopolitan, sleek, rhythm-forward, modern sound.”

Teacher Workshop Women in Jazz led by Tammy Hall

Celebrated Bay Area jazz pianist and educator Tammy Hall will lead us through a history of women in jazz, and we’ll take a closer look at the music of women jazz composers and instrumentalists to be presented by ARTEMIS in their student matinee. Through deep listening to key recordings and interactive exercises, Tammy will introduce engaging activities for you to share with your classroom.
