Electronic music artist Jlin will be in residence with Stanford Live April 6 - 14, 2026. The centerpiece of her visit will be her performance at The Studio on Friday, April 10. Her residency will include activities at CCRMA, Braun Music Center and the Institute for Diversity in the Arts.

Jlin has quickly become one of the most distinctive composers in America and one of the most influential women in electronic music. Her thrilling, emotional, and multidimensional compositions have earned her praise as “one of the most forward-thinking contemporary composers in any genre” (Pitchfork). Following a Pulitzer Prize nomination for her work with Third Coast Percussion, her latest release features collaborations with Björk, Philip Glass, and the Kronos Quartet. Her previous albums Dark Energy and Black Origami have appeared on “best of” lists from the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, and Vogue.

Jlin brings material from her acclaimed (and Stanford Live co-commission) “Akoma” and bends toward more acoustic sound materials in her new work developed during her Stanford spring residency and utilizing instruments from Stanford’s collection.  During her time on campus, she has connected with Stanford’s storied Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) and opened her creative process to students and researchers there.
