Presented by Stanford Live

Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale

Handel’s Alceste | Peter Whelan, conductor
Wed, Mar 5, 2025 at 7:30 PM
Bing Concert Hall

Originally conceived as a grand multimedia extravaganza—more theatrical spectacle than solely an opera—Handel’s Alceste is as lavish musically as it was meant to be visually. Sensual, alluring, and dramatic, it’s a hedonistic delight from start to finish and is here accompanied by one of the composer’s most popular orchestral works, Concerto Grosso in G major, Op. 6, No. 1. This performance will feature soprano Lauren Snouffer and tenor Aaron Sheehan led by conductor Peter Whelan.
