Lucas & Arthur Jussen Piano Duo Recital
Lucas and Arthur Jussen are among the leading piano duos performing today, appearing with orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic and Boston Symphony and recording exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon. Their energetic, almost symbiotic playing has exhilarated audiences worldwide and earned them an Edison Klassiek Audience Award. This concert includes two-piano and four-hand rarities by Mendelssohn, Schubert, and Milhaud, as well as adaptations of colossal 20th-century orchestral touchstones: Ravel’s La valse and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.

Igor Stravinsky's American Story
Igor Stravinsky immigrated to the United States in 1939, settling in Los Angeles as WWII spread across Europe. He later became a naturalized American citizen in 1945 and spent the remainder of his life working and composing in the U.S. He often expressed deep satisfaction with his life and work in the United States, participating fully in the nation’s musical culture and civic life. At a 1962 White House ceremony marking his U.S. citizenship, Stravinsky said, “I am particularly happy to receive this as an American citizen.”
