Renée Qin and Ania Filochowska: The World We Speak Into Being
The World We Speak Into Being is an interdisciplinary performance initiative that emerged from two students’ artistic and academic exploration at Stanford. Harpist-composer Renée Qin and violinist Ania Filochowska create an evening where imagination becomes the catalyst for a multimedia experience co-created in real time with the audience. Through interactive works, including a custom water instrument that responds to touch, flashlights that influence sound and visuals, and spoken words that transform into real-time soundscapes and imagery, participants become creative collaborators. The program features original compositions by Qin, placing acoustic instruments as human witnesses that remind us technology can amplify our stories rather than replace them.

America 250: Ania Filochowska
Violinist Ania Filochowska has charted a remarkable path defined by vision, rigor, and a fearless pursuit of possibility. At just eleven years old, she rallied her family to leave their native Poland to study at The Juilliard School in New York City in the studio of the legendary Itzhak Perlman. Today, she is committed to building community across cultures, genres, and disciplines—choosing the Bay Area as her creative home for its spirit of innovation and cross-sector collaboration.
"The U.S. is my adopted home, and I feel at ease here. There’s a real openness and more smiles in daily life. To me, it’s that expansiveness of the American identity; the fact that it’s broad enough to let me feel completely at home while still holding onto my Polish roots with a lot of pride." - Ania Filochowska
