Intermission

The second half of the program traces a path from chaos to renewal. The Stanford Medicine Orchestra, led by Music Director Terrance Yan, opens with Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, followed by selections from Holst’s The Planets, moving from the relentless Mars to the stillness of Venus and the exuberant Jupiter. Composed in times of upheaval, these works remind us of music’s enduring power to express, unite, and heal.

AARON COPLAND - Fanfare for the Common Man

GUSTAV HOLST - The Planets (selections)
Mars, the Bringer of War
Venus, the Bringer of Peace
Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity
